The final FIA Formula 3 European Championship race of the Red Bull Ring weekend was short-lived for Felix, who was forced to retire due to a spin in the early stages.
Suffering from a distinct lack of grip, Felix had been dropping back over the opening few tours, and eventually spun into retirement at Turn 4 on lap seven.
Mücke Motorsport are currently investigating the cause of the problems.
The race marked a maiden series win for Antonio Giovinazzi, while Tom Blomqvist made it a second Carlin 1-2 out of three races this weekend.
The F3 fraternity will now move on to the Nürburgring, where the next round is set to take place in two weeks’ time.
FELIX:
“There’s not much to say, really. Something felt very strange from the beginning, and there was a lack of grip. The back end stepped out as soon as I touched the steering wheel, and I eventually spun off – my mistake. We will now analyse what went wrong and ensure it doesn’t happen again over the rest of the season.
“Overall, we have taken some small steps forward this weekend, and we’ll take that with us into the final few rounds. The car felt more consistent than in Russia last time out, and we were able to challenge for the podium on pace – at least over the second half of the weekend. We’re still not where we should be, obviously, but we’re working as hard as we can and we’ll continue doing so in the future.”
