Felix Rosenqvist is looking to bow out with a frontrunning performance as the 2024 NTT INDYCAR SERIES draws to a close this weekend with the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix at Nashville Superspeedway.
About to complete his first season with the Meyer Shank Racing team, Rosenqvist can look back at a largely promising year of transition aboard the #60 MSR Honda, and is keen to end on a fitting note in the season-finale.
While INDYCAR returns to the D-shaped, 1.33-mile Nashville Superspeedway for the first time since 2008, the Tennessee oval is a completely new acquaintance for Rosenqvist – but the Swede is adamant that won’t detract from his high-held ambitions.
“It’s incredible how quickly a season goes by, and here we are at the grand finale,” says Felix Rosenqvist. “I have never turned a lap at Nashville Superspeedway, while several of the others tested there earlier this year, but to be honest that really shouldn’t be too much of an issue. I have plenty of experience by now and I feel well-prepared to go out and fight for that final win.”
Boosting his presence as the campaign concludes, Rosenqvist will be sporting a new livery this weekend featuring Diplo’s Revolution, the SiriusXM channel of multiple Grammy Award-winning artist Diplo (who also will DJ the pre-race driver introductions on Sunday).
Rosenqvist enters the championship finale sitting 12th in the overall standings, with an outside chance of making the top ten.
“I’m really excited,” Felix Rosenqvist concludes. “We’ve got good pace in the car, another cool collaboration with SiriusXM – in Music City of all places – and a lot of motivation to end on a high. Nothing really to lose either, so we’ll just have to keep an eye out for the weather which looks like it could be a bit unsettled.
“I’m feeling so much positive energy in this team and I really want to round out our first season together in the best possible way.”
The Big Machine Music City Grand Prix is scheduled to get underway with practice and qualifying on Saturday. The 206-lap race is slated for a 2:30 pm start local time (U.S. Central) on Sunday.
