Felix Rosenqvist has etched his place in history by winning the closest ever Indianapolis 500 in a nail-biting finish at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The Swedish Meyer Shank Racing driver overtook David Malukas (USA) for the win just fractions before the finishing line in a thrilling 200-lap epic, winning the 110th Indy 500 by a record-close finish of just 0.023s.
Rosenqvist becomes only the third Swedish driver in history to win the famous oval race, which ranks as the world’s largest single-day sporting event with some 350 000 spectators on site on race day.
”This is the greatest achievement of my career, of my life,” says Felix Rosenqvist. “I’m in a chock. That last lap was all on the line and I managed to overtake Malukas at the final possible moment. I can’t describe my emotions right now. Massive thanks to Meyer Shank Racing, Honda, all our partners, my family and fans and everyone who has helped me get here. Incredible.”
