Felix scored another twelve valuable FIA Formula 3 European Championship points by coming home fourth in the second race of the Hungaroring weekend.
Setting off from the dirty side of the grid on the second row, Felix did not get the best of starts, dropping behind jump-starting Racing Steps Foundation driver Jake Dennis but swiftly getting back up to fourth as the Briton picked up a drive-through penalty for his faulty getaway.
From there, the race was pretty much settled, with overtaking proving notoriously tricky around the tight and twisty Hungaroring circuit.
Felix tried his best to put third-placed Lucas Auer under pressure at various points of the event, but the Austrian made no mistakes and Felix had to sit firm in fourth, eventually crossing the line less than a second behind his team-mate.
The race marked another win for Esteban Ocon, while Prema Powerteam celebrated a one-two with Antonio Fuoco finishing second.
The result sees Felix move to fifth in the championship standings, with one race remaining this weekend.
FELIX:
“The right-hand side of the grid here is very dirty – it’s off the racing line – and I didn’t get the greatest of starts. Once Jake disappeared, however, I managed to close the gap to Lucas and Antonio fairly quickly. I did make a few attempts to put Lucas under pressure, but – while I was a little bit quicker than him and Antonio – it wasn’t enough to overtake, so I backed off again to save the tyres for this afternoon. We still have quite a lot of work to do to match Esteban, who is having a terrific weekend, but at least this was a step in the right direction.”
