PREVIEW Bommarito Automotive Group 500 (USA)
The NTT INDYCAR SERIES is entering its home stretch with three races on consecutive weekends to close out the season, beginning with Sunday’s Bommarito Automotive Group 500.
Marking the final oval event on the 2023 schedule, this weekend’s race at World Wide Technology Raceway – formerly known as Gateway – comes on the back of a strong campaign on ovals for Felix Rosenqvist this year.
The Arrow McLaren Swede qualified on pole at Texas Motor Speedway, was on the front row for May’s Indianapolis 500, and then battled for the win at Iowa Speedway before slipping back on a late restart and finishing fourth.
As the field heads to the 1.25-mile WWTR track, Rosenqvist is determined to close out the circular part of the season on a high.
“We have been fast on ovals this year, generally speaking, so I’m excited to carry that form into WWTR,” says Felix Rosenqvist. “We haven’t got the ultimate, final result to show for it though, so that’s obviously a box that needs ticking.
“We have quite a big day on Saturday, with qualifying and plenty of practice, so I think people will have a decent understanding of things going into race day. Hopefully it’s us coming out on top.”
The Bommarito Automotive Group 500, named for its (approximate) race distance of 500 km, spans 260 laps. The race takes place on Sunday afternoon local time.
Following this weekend’s event, the field will head immediately west for two final races at Portland and Laguna Seca to round out the 2023 campaign.
