Felix Rosenqvist took home a seventh-place finish as his best result from the NTT INDYCAR SERIES double-header at Iowa Speedway, ending the weekend on a positive note to back up his recent podium in Toronto.
After crashing out with a loose car on lap 110 of 250 in the first race of the meeting on Saturday, Rosenqvist bounced back in style to take a top ten finish with seventh in Sunday’s Race 2 concluder – overcoming brake issues along the way in the 300-lap encounter.
It marked a strong recovery for Rosenqvist, and underpinned a victorious day for Arrow McLaren SP as team-mate Pato O’Ward clinched victory at the short, intense oval.
“It’s a good day for the team – great to see Pato up there in Victory Circle!” says Felix Rosenqvist. “We had a really good car here in Iowa. I was aiming for the top three today, but we had a brake issue going on and I had difficulties getting the car stopped in my pit box in both the last two stops. I braked super early but still went far, so we lost a lot of time there – but the car was incredible.
“I think we recovered well with the issue we had and got the most out of it in the end. I’m thrilled for the team, I’m happy with P7 on my side, and I think once again we’re proving the pace we have is very real on any kind of track now.”
The NTT INDYCAR SERIES fraternity is back in action in just a few days’ time, with the next race staged on Saturday (July 30) at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course. Felix Rosenqvist now sits ninth in the overall standings with five races to go this season.
