Felix scored the greatest triumph of his career to date as he stormed to victory in the 2014 Suncity Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix on Sunday, becoming the first Swede since 1992 to win the world’s most prestigious junior single-seater race.
Starting the event from pole position, Felix initially lost his lead as Lucas Auer, Tom Blomqvist and Esteban Ocon slipstreamed past on the run to Lisboa, but he returned to the front at the following corner after Auer ran wide and Blomqvist and Ocon crashed out in an incident which also accounted for Japan’s Yu Kanamaru and forced the race to be stopped.
After a lengthy delay, the race resumed behind the safety car, with Felix crucially managing to fend off Auer into Lisboa. From there, he increased his advantage over the rest of the field lap by lap, eventually storming home to a 4.3 second win ahead of Auer in a Mücke Motorsport 1-2.
The success means that Felix has now become the only driver in history to win each of the world’s three major Formula 3 races; the Masters of F3 at Zandvoort, the Grand Prix de Pau in France, and the Macau Grand Prix.
Felix becomes the second Swede to win the prestigious event, 22 years on from Rickard Rydell’s triumphant drive in 1992.

Big, big thanks to the team for giving me a fantastic car – we really needed this after a tough season back in Europe. Now, I think there might be a small party tonight, and this victory will make the winter a lot, lot easier! Amazing.”
