Felix Rosenqvist is gearing up for his eighth career start in the Indianapolis 500, taking a mix of experience and determination onto the table as attention turns to the “Greatest Spectacle in Racing” for the rest of the month.
Regarded as the world’s greatest race, the Indy 500 is the undisputed highlight of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES season. It ranks among the largest sporting events on the planet, attracting crowds of well over 300 000 visitors on race day.
The 500-mile oval classic is played out across 200 laps around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, with the traditional tally of 33 drivers set to battle for victory once again this year in the 110th running of the historic race.
Felix Rosenqvist has been a strong contender at the Indy 500 over the last few years, the Swede’s recent record at the event offering a promising outlook heading into the 2026 edition:
2022: Finished fourth.
2023: Qualified on the front row but crashed out in the race while fighting for the win.
2024: Qualified as the top Honda-powered car but retired with mechanical issues.
2025: Qualified fifth and finished fourth (tied personal best). Also set the outright fastest lap of the Month of May at 234.176 mph (376.8 km/h).
”The Indy 500 is such a special race,” says Felix Rosenqvist. ”I’m very excited. We’ve been quick in recent years, and I now genuinely think this is one of our strongest races on the calendar. I feel like I’ve now got the experience, the knowledge and everything in place. It’s a long two weeks and anything can happen, but going into it, I think all the big pieces are there.”
Rosenqvist again forms part of a three-car line-up for Meyer Shank Racing at the Indy 500 this year, also featuring Marcus Armstrong and four-time winner Helio Castroneves.
The build-up to the race begins this week with a series of practice sessions starting on Tuesday, leading into qualifying weekend which will see average speeds climb to well over 230 mph around the daunting 2.5-mile oval.
The race itself takes place on Sunday, May 24.
