Felix Rosenqvist is leaving a challenging weekend behind after finishing the Children’s of Alabama Indy Grand Prix in 13th place on Sunday.
Arriving at Barber Motorsports Park looking for an upturn in form after struggling at the Alabama venue last year, Rosenqvist did not find the improvements he was targeting in round four of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES season.
The Swedish Meyer Shank Racing driver was knocked out in the opening stages of qualifying – albeit by less than a tenth of a second – and duly lined up down in 18th on the grid for Sunday’s 90-lap race.
Rosenqvist produced a steady drive on race day, however, gradually working his way forward through the field to find himself battling within a tight pack in the closing stages. Sitting just a few seconds off the top ten, Rosenqvist held position to finish 13th at the chequered flag.
“Definitely not what I was looking for here at Barber,” says Felix Rosenqvist. “We came here knowing this was a weak track for us last year, so we prepared extensively for this race, and I was hoping we’d be a bit more competitive.
“Unfortunately, it was average. I had some stints that were decent and some that were worse. I wish I had a few more tenths of pace. The guys did a good job in the pits, however, and we salvaged at least a few points starting pretty far back. That said, I clearly want to have better weekends than this, and I will be looking at this event in detail to see where we can improve.”
Coming up next on the NTT INDYCAR SERIES schedule is the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach on April 17-19.
