ROLEX 24 AT DAYTONA
Announcement
Felix Rosenqvist will make a return to international sportscar racing as he joins United Autosports for January’s Rolex 24 At Daytona endurance classic.
In a one-off appearance for the Anglo-American squad, Rosenqvist will share the #22 ORECA 07 LMP2 entry with Daniel Goldburg (USA), Paul di Resta (GBR) and another yet-to-be-announced driver in the Floridian 24-hour race that kick-starts the global motor racing campaign.
Rosenqvist – who is set to commence his sixth season in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES in 2024 – has contested the Rolex 24 At Daytona on two previous occasions, entering the PC category in 2016 and LMP2 in 2018. The Swede’s previous sportscar experience also includes a start in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2017.
“I’m super excited to be back in sportscar racing,” says Felix Rosenqvist. “It’s been five years since I did a sportscar race… I used to do it a lot back in the day, but it’s been put on pause recently because I’ve been focussing on my INDYCAR career. It’s something I love doing and to be racing with United Autosports is really cool. This team has won a lot of LMP2 races before, so they’re coming in with the expectation to do well – which matches my goals.
“I think we have a strong team with Daniel Goldburg and Paul di Resta. I’ve worked with Paul before, so it will be good to get back together after many years. I’m super pumped; I can’t wait to get going at the ROAR!”
The Rolex 24 At Daytona marks the annual season-opener of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, where United Autosports is fielding two cars in 2024. The Florida guest outing will see Rosenqvist line up for the team for the first time of his career.
“Felix Rosenqvist is a winner,” says Richard Dean, United Autosports CEO. “He has won races across an impressive range of series through his racing career and, over the past five years, has made a real name for himself in INDYCAR. We are really excited to see Felix in the United Autosports car this January and feel very proud to partner with him in his quest for success at Daytona.”
The Rolex 24 At Daytona takes place at Daytona International Speedway on January 25-28. Preparations for the prestigious race begin with the traditional “ROAR” pre-event testing and qualifying weekend on January 19-21.
