Felix Rosenqvist extended his recent run of strong results in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES with sixth place in the Sonsio Grand Prix at Road America.
Rosenqvist had qualified seventh for Sunday’s race around the popular Wisconsin track, which netted the Swede his maiden INDYCAR win back in 2020.
The Arrow McLaren SP man then led seven of the 55 laps – the third most of anyone – as he extended a run of top ten finishes that now reads sixth, fourth, tenth and sixth in the last four events.
Rosenqvist came home as the second-best finisher among the Chevrolet-powered contingent.
“It was a good race,” says Felix Rosenqvist. “Initially we weren’t very strong on the red tyres, so then when the third caution came we decided to pit early for track position and make it a fuel race. It meant I had a crazy fuel target, and in many ways it reminded me of my days in Formula E, trying to go as quick as you can while using as little energy as possible.
“It wasn’t easy, but we managed to keep a surprisingly strong pace, and we were able to do our thing in clean air for much of the race. I was actually surprised how well it worked out – a good effort once again.”
With today’s finish, Rosenqvist now moves into eighth place in the overall championship standings.
The next NTT INDYCAR SERIES round takes place at Mid-Ohio on July 1-3.
