The NTT INDYCAR SERIES’ intense July stint continues apace this weekend with the championship’s annual visit to Canada, with Felix Rosenqvist hoping to once again feature up front on the streets of Toronto.
Rosenqvist has a strong record in Toronto, finishing fifth in his rookie INDYCAR season in 2019, on the podium in 2022 as the race made its post-covid return to the calendar, and tenth in 2023.
He was also battling at the front of the field last year during his first visit as a Meyer Shank Racing driver, qualifying third but ultimately retiring with a technical issue.
Added to that, Toronto was the scene of Rosenqvist’s most dominant performance in the Indy Lights feeder series in 2016, the Swede winning both races of the event from pole position as he swept the weekend.
Now, he hopes to once again factor in the Canadian conversation in the final street race of the season.
“Toronto is a proper favourite of mine, and I think that weekend in Indy Lights back in 2016 set out the course for my American adventure in INDYCAR down the line,” says Felix Rosenqvist. “It’s a track that really suits me well and that I massively enjoy. It’s bumpy in places, tricky to negotiate, and you’ve got to be as close to the walls as you dare – a brilliant track in a lovely city with great fans to cheer us on!”
Formally titled the Honda Indy Toronto, the race in Canada marks round 13 of 17 on the 2025 INDYCAR schedule. It begins with an opening practice session on Friday, followed by Practice 2 and qualifying on Saturday and the 90-lap race on Sunday.
Felix Rosenqvist sits sixth in the standings heading into this weekend, trailing fifth-placed Christian Lundgaard by just two points.
