Felix Rosenqvist is bidding to overcome a slate of difficult races as the NTT INDYCAR SERIES reaches the end of a busy July schedule this weekend at Laguna Seca.
After scoring his maiden podium with Meyer Shank Racing at Road America a month ago, Rosenqvist has fared slightly worse in recent weeks, slipping back from a pair of top three qualifying runs at Iowa Speedway and retiring in Toronto last weekend trying to nurse home a damaged car.
As the field regroups in California this week for the Java House Grand Prix of Monterey, however, Rosenqvist is all eyes forward, enjoying the prospect of a fresh opportunity at the iconic Laguna Seca.
“Laguna Seca is another great track, one of the proper drivers’ circuits with some really fast, high-commitment corners,” says Felix Rosenqvist. ”The Corkscrew is the most famous section, but there are big challenges all around the lap, and virtually zero run-off. Stringing together a quick lap there in qualifying is one of the most rewarding feelings all year.”
Rosenqvist has a best finish of fourth at Laguna Seca, scored in 2022. He also qualified on pole at the venue in 2023 and lined up third on the grid last year, but dropped back in the race with brake issues.
This time around, he hopes to finally convert consistently strong pace at the Monterey road course into a podium result.
”We had a tough one in Toronto last week, so we’re all determined to bounce back and get ourselves back to the front this weekend,” Felix Rosenqvist concludes. ”I think we have reason to be optimistic. Generally we’ve been very strong on road courses this year, getting a podium at Road America and a P6 at Mid-Ohio in the two most recent ones. I’m excited, recharged, and ready to go after a strong result!”
Opening practice for the Java House Grand Prix of Monterey takes place on Friday. A second practice session will follow on Saturday morning, building up to qualifying later the same day.
The 95-lap race takes place on Sunday and marks round 14 of 17 on the 2025 NTT INDYCAR SERIES schedule.
