Felix set the pace by six tenths of a second to top the first-ever test for the new Formula ACCELERATION 1 single-seater category at the Spanish circuit of Navarra this weekend.
With the brand new ACCELERATION motorsport concept scheduled to hit the limelight next season, Felix was called up to join the two-day test by his former outfit Performance Racing, helping the Silverstone-based squad to evaluate a potential future entry into the series.
Despite the FA1 car sporting a 550-bhp engine to give it more than twice the power of a Formula 3 machine, Felix wasted no time in acclimatising to the new challenge, going fastest in each of the sessions he undertook (excluding an early outing devoted exclusively to a sequence of installation laps) to eventually end up 0.6 seconds ahead of second-placed World Series by Renault regular Oliver Webb.
The test took place in chilly conditions, with temperatures never reaching above 5 degrees Celsius.
Performance Racing also ran a second car for John Bryant-Meisner, who ended up third fastest. To find out more about the ACCELERATION platform scheduled to see the light of day in 2014, please click here.
