Felix became the first driver to top an official session for the new FA1 series as he set the pace in opening free practice at Portimão on Friday morning.
Felix lapped the spectacular Algarve venue in 1m32.386s behind the wheel of the Team Sweden machine, grabbing P1 by almost seven tenths of a second ahead of 2011 Formula 2 champion Mirko Bortolotti (Team Italy).
Nigel Melker, Team Netherlands, was third.
A second 30-minute free practice session will take place after lunch, with the first-ever FA1 pole position then set to be disputed in qualifying later this afternoon.
