Felix Rosenqvist achieved his goal of moving up to sixth place in the final NTT INDYCAR SERIES standings with a strong recovery drive in the 2025 season-finale at Nashville Superspeedway, tying his personal best championship result.
Rosenqvist took his Maximum Metallica-liveried Meyer Shank Racing Honda to seventh place in the last race of the season – although his road to getting there was anything but straightforward.
The Swede immediately ran into trouble as he was picked up for a false start on the way to the green flag, dropping him from ninth all the way down to 26th place.
Rosenqvist got his head down, however, lapping quickly as he moved up the field in the middle stages to run on the fringes of the top ten.
The #60 crew then made a race-changing strategic decision to pit Rosenqvist early for the final stop of the race, putting him back out on track in clean air that allowed him to pick up several additional positions.
After striking again on a late restart, Rosenqvist eventually crossed the line in an unlikely seventh place to cap off a strong fightback.
“It’s been an up and down weekend,” says Felix Rosenqvist. ”We had lots of promise at times and we struggled at times, and it was the same in the race. I had a jump start; it was kind of in the grey zone, but it was what it was. I didn’t move through the cars in the back as quickly as I wanted, but then we made a few changes and it brought the thing alive. We were flying. The end of the race was really cool and happy we could get back to P7 in the end.”
Rosenqvist’s 2025 INDYCAR tally includes one podium (P2 at Road America), ten top 10 finishes and four top fives. He also finished a tied career-best of fourth in the Indianapolis 500.
The outcome in Nashville sees Rosenqvist move from ninth in the standings up to sixth, tying his personal best championship finish. It also marks the best-ever overall result for Meyer Shank Racing in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES standings.
“It’s been a good season overall, and we’ve taken another step forward this year, challenging the best out there to take P6 in the standings,” Rosenqvist concludes. “That is a very solid result and a great achievement by everyone on the team. Still some things to improve on, of course, but overall we can be really proud of the season we’ve managed to put together. I’m already looking forward to next year!”
