PREVIEW Gallagher Grand Prix (USA)
Felix Rosenqvist returns to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course this weekend for the Gallagher Grand Prix, looking to repeat the sort of performances that have already netted him two pole positions at his “home” track.
Rosenqvist endured a disappointing race last weekend on the streets of Nashville, but is determined to bounce back as racing resumes just a few days later at IMS.
It’s a return to a track where Rosenqvist has consistently featured up front since arriving on the INDYCAR scene in 2019, giving the Swede his very first pole position that same year and another NTT P1 Award in last season’s Gallagher Grand Prix.
Rosenqvist also came tantalizingly close to a third pole at the venue earlier this year, missing out by a mere 0.002s as he qualified on the front row for May’s GMR Grand Prix. Rosenqvist, residing in Carmel a short drive from the track, finished the race in fifth place.
“I’m looking forward to being back on the IMS road course, which has always been a strong place for me,” says Felix Rosenqvist. “After the struggles we faced in Nashville, we need a proven ground like this to verify some things we want to change and test for this weekend. We know the car is normally quick around IMS, so it’s the ideal place to go right now and try to regain our form.”
Part of “Brickyard Weekend” on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which also includes NASCAR on the event bill, the Gallagher Grand Prix is a two-day affair across Friday and Saturday.
Friday features practice and qualifying, with the 85-lap race taking place on Saturday.
