Felix Rosenqvist returns to action in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES this weekend for round eight of the campaign: the Bommarito Automotive Group 500.
Staged at the 1.25-mile (2.0 km) World Wide Technology Raceway – commonly known as Gateway – the up-coming race on the outskirts of St. Louis marks the first short oval event of the 2025 season.
That makes for an interesting proposition, as the nature of the intense circular track differs greatly from all other venues contested so far this season, including the only previous oval of the ultra-fast, twice-as-long Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
”The first short oval of the season is always exciting,” says Felix Rosenqvist. “It’s definitely the most tight and intense type of racing on the schedule and Gateway is a track I’ve always enjoyed as well.”
Rosenqvist returns to his #60 Meyer Shank Racing Honda this weekend for the first time since his race-ending accident in Detroit two weeks ago, determined to overcome an unfortunate blip in an otherwise encouraging campaign that sees him currently sit fifth in the overall standings.
“I feel essentially back to normal after the crash in Detroit and all good to go,” Rosenqvist continues. “Let’s see what we can do on this type of track, which is distinctly different to anything we’ve done previously this year – including Indianapolis. It’s a wide-open weekend and I can’t wait to take it on!”
The Bommarito Automotive Group 500 is a two-day event, commencing with a busy Saturday schedule containing qualifying and two practice sessions.
Adding to the unique flavour to be served in St. Louis this weekend, Sunday’s 260-lap (500 km) race is staged under floodlights with a start time of 7:00 pm local (U.S. Central).
