NTT INDYCAR SERIES | RD. 12&13
PREVIEW: HARVEST GP, INDIANAPOLIS (USA)
The NTT INDYCAR SERIES enters its final stages this weekend with the penultimate round of the season, the championship staging yet another double-header event as it returns to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course for the Harvest GP.
Felix Rosenqvist chases his second win of the year, and is determined to bounce back from the frustrating clash that took him out of contention last time out at Mid-Ohio.
The Swede featured at the sharp end of the field in the most recent race three weeks ago, but became the innocent victim of an unfortunate opening-lap collision that caused him to retire just seconds after the start.
“What happened at Mid-Ohio was obviously disappointing, especially since it followed my best qualifying result of the year,” says Felix Rosenqvist. “I felt we had an honest shot at winning that race, but I’ve moved on and my full focus now is on the future. We have two weekends to go and I see no reason why we shouldn’t be able to fight up front in each of the remaining races.”
The first opportunity to strike back comes this weekend, with two races taking place at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course. The track features on the INDYCAR calendar for the second time this season, having previously staged a single race back in July.
While Rosenqvist had a lacklustre day on that occasion on his way to 15th place in the GMR Grand Prix, the IMS road course holds fond memories as the site of the Chip Ganassi Racing driver’s first INDYCAR pole back in 2019.
Rosenqvist enters the weekend sitting 11th in the drivers’ championship, just five points off the top ten.
“There are still lots of points up for grabs, so there is every opportunity to improve on our position in the championship,” Felix Rosenqvist concludes. “I’m determined to finish this season in the best way possible and demonstrate our true potential in the #10 NTT DATA camp.”
Following this weekend, the 2020 NTT INDYCAR SERIES will come to a close on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida, on October 25.
Action in Indianapolis begins on Thursday, with the two races this weekend taking place on Friday (85 laps) and Saturday (75 laps). There will be two separate qualifying sessions to set the respective grids.
