Felix Rosenqvist made up four places to finish 14th in the Grand Prix of Portland, the final road course event on this year’s NTT INDYCAR SERIES schedule.
A two-time podium finisher at Portland International Raceway, Rosenqvist carried high hopes going into the weekend, but faced a steep challenge at the Oregon track after narrowly missing out in a close-fought qualifying session on Saturday.
From a less-than-ideal 18th on the grid, the Meyer Shank Racing Swede then ran a largely undramatic race in the midfield, executing the conventional three-stop strategy to make small but steady gains across his stints.
“Hard-fought P14, that was kind of all I had,” says Felix Rosenqvist. ”It just hasn’t been a great weekend for us. I feel like we have just been average and our finish lined up with that. It’s crazy now in INDYCAR, if you don’t have the perfect car in the race, you’re not going to really go anywhere. Only left turns from here on out, and we’ve been good on ovals, so let’s move on.”
INDYCAR’s busy late-summer schedule continues apace with a double-header round at the Milwaukee Mile oval next weekend, with two races set to be staged across August 31-September 1. The final round of the season follows just two weeks later at Nashville Superspeedway.
