NTT INDYCAR SERIES | Rd. 9
PREVIEW Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio (USA)
Felix Rosenqvist is looking to carry his recent strong form into this weekend’s NTT INDYCAR SERIES round at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course – a venue at which the Swede is particularly keen for redemption.
Rosenqvist’s relationship with the 2.258-mile road course, laid out in the countryside near Lexington, Ohio, is turbulent. What started as a love affair – the track giving Rosenqvist both his first-ever INDYCAR test and podium result – has turned grimmer in recent years.
As a matter of fact, the 30-year-old was hit in analogous first-turn incidents just moments after the start in both 2020 and 2021, denying him any chance of a competitive result.
Thus, the Arrow McLaren SP driver will be keen to turn the Mid-Ohio tide around as he returns this weekend; especially arriving on the back of a strong four-race run of consecutive top ten finishes.
“The bottom line is I really like Mid-Ohio, and I’ve always been quick around there in relation to my team-mates, but in the last two years it’s just been unfortunate,” says Felix Rosenqvist. “This time, I really hope to get past the first corner!
“We have several strong races in the bag now and I don’t see any reason why we can’t do even better. Qualifying will be important as overtaking is quite tricky here, but I think we have every opportunity. I’m absolutely looking forward to the weekend.”
Felix Rosenqvist currently sits eighth in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES standings going into this weekend’s race, which takes place on Sunday and runs for 80 laps. Practice begins on Friday.
