\"IMG_0575\"<\/a>Felix\u00a0and Team Sweden\u00a0had to settle for fourth\u00a0in the\u00a0inaugural race of\u00a0the new\u00a0FA1\u00a0series\u00a0in\u00a0Portim\u00e3o, having lost touch with the leaders due to a 30-second pit stop delay.<\/p>\n

As expected, the 30-minute race instantly\u00a0saw the leading trio of drivers break away from the rest of the field,\u00a0as Felix set off chasing front row starters Mirko Bortolotti (Team Italy) and\u00a0Nigel Melker (Team Netherlands).<\/p>\n

Halfway through the race, the\u00a0trio were separated by just under\u00a0five seconds, with leader Bortolotti the first to show his hand and head for his compulsory pit stop.<\/p>\n

Two laps later, Felix and Melker joined each other into the pits,\u00a0Felix running two seconds behind his\u00a0Dutch rival. While Melker got away\u00a0cleanly, Felix had to see\u00a0any chance of a\u00a0podium – let alone a\u00a0late charge for victory\u00a0– evaporate as a\u00a0problematic left-front tyre change\u00a0delayed him by\u00a030 seconds and demoted him to fifth.<\/p>\n

He would eventually fight back to take the chequered flag in fourth, proving to be the fastest man on track in the closing stages and taking 1.5 seconds per lap out of third-placed Sebastian Balthasar. There wasn’t enough time to catch the Team Germany racer, however, leaving\u00a0Sweden out of the podium celebrations.<\/p>\n

FELIX:<\/p>\n

“It’s\u00a0obviously disappointing to lose out on the podium when we had\u00a0the pace to potentially fight for victory, but\u00a0we’re all here\u00a0mainly to see and learn and I don’t think it actually matters that much. The team did what they could and these things happen sometimes. I learned a lot today – it was the first\u00a0race I’ve\u00a0ever\u00a0done in\u00a0this kind of\u00a0car – and I’m happy to see that I could take care of the tyres and\u00a0set competitive lap times all through the race. We’ll try to do a better job tomorrow.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
