RD. 10 \u2013 ROAD AMERICA (USA)<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n

Felix Rosenqvist produced an emphatic recovery to go from 18th to sixth\u00a0in a caution-free NTT IndyCar Series race at Road America on Sunday, simultaneously snatching the lead of the\u00a0rookie classification.

<\/strong><\/span>After failing to advance in qualifying by just half a tenth around the 6.5 km Wisconsin\u00a0road course, Rosenqvist retaliated in style in the 55-lap race as he mirrored Chip Ganassi Racing team-mate Scott Dixon in efficiently rising through the field.

<\/span>Rosenqvist gelled an offset strategy – which saw him start on the Firestone primary tyres\u00a0– with strong pace and robust race craft to\u00a0advance\u00a0a full 12 positions on his way to P6;\u00a0the most places gained of anyone compared to their original grid slot.

<\/span>The Swede capped sixth place with a bold move around the outside of fellow series newcomer\u00a0Colton Herta at Turn 5 on the very final lap, snatching Rookie of the Day honours in the process.

<\/span>Up front, Alexander Rossi\u00a0won the race from Penske duo Will Power and Josef Newgarden, with\u00a0Graham Rahal fourth and Dixon fifth.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>Today’s result sees Rosenqvist break back into the top ten in the overall IndyCar drivers’ classification. He now also leads the\u00a0rookie standings.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u00a0was a\u00a0really well-executed race from the team,\u00a0especially from the\u00a0strategy side,” says Felix Rosenqvist<\/strong>.\u00a0“I\u00a0think we nailed it.\u00a0There wasn\u2019t any safety car\u00a0this time, so\u00a0considering that we went from P18 to P6, it\u00a0was a\u00a0very good run. Basically all\u00a0overtaking was done on\u00a0track. There was a\u00a0lot of tyre management in the race, and I\u00a0think that was the\u00a0main key –\u00a0especially on the Firestone\u00a0reds <\/em>(alternate\u00a0tyres).\u00a0We managed to get\u00a0out in\u00a0clear air on the reds and\u00a0then I\u00a0could manage the\u00a0tyres, and I\u00a0think that was crucial. Fantastic job by the team and\u00a0we finally had some good momentum in\u00a0that race.”<\/em><\/span>

The next race on the calendar marks the only IndyCar\u00a0round this year to be staged outside of\u00a0the US, as the championship heads to Canada for a dash around\u00a0the streets of Toronto on July 12-14.<\/span><\/p>\n
