Felix set the third fastest time as Honda staged a 14-car manufacturer test at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course on Monday.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Part of the preparations for next month’s INDYCAR Grand Prix at the 2.439-mile track, the eight-hour test session was initially hampered by rain before the weather cleared in the afternoon.<\/span><\/p>\n

Felix completed 93 laps to record a best time of 1m09.716s, which left him less than two tenths off Colton Herta’s pace-setting effort and just half a tenth adrift of Ganassi team-mate Scott Dixon in P2.<\/span><\/p>\n

“It was a good test ultimately, although a bit weird in the beginning,” says Felix<\/strong>. “When I went out this morning, I forgot how the track is, how it turns! I had one corner where I tried to do third gear and it was actually first. Normally, I don\u2019t do that. I actually forgot. Anyway, that was quickly overcome and in the end we managed to complete a very positive programme.”<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Although the test marked Felix’s first taste of the IMS road course aboard an IndyCar, he has previous experience of the track from his partial 2016 Indy Lights season.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe track has a nice flow to it. It\u2019s actually much more fun in an IndyCar. I look forward to racing here in a few weeks.”<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

The INDYCAR Grand Prix at the IMS road course takes place on May 11.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
