\"gal2\"<\/a>Felix\u00a0and M\u00fccke Motorsport\u00a0had their fears realised when they again had to settle for\u00a0positions in the midfield\u00a0in second qualifying for the Silverstone FIA Formula 3 European Championship curtain-raiser.<\/p>\n

Friday activities\u00a0in\u00a0the UK have not panned out the way Felix was hoping for, with 14th place in this afternoon’s first qualifying session highlighting a number of performance-limiting issues\u00a0related to\u00a0a general lack of grip. With the same indications coming from team-mate Lucas Auer, the team went into final qualifying with realistic expectations.<\/p>\n

As it was, Felix eventually set the 13th fastest lap,\u00a0while Auer managed to squeeze out another tenth to grab\u00a012th on the Race 2 grid. The M\u00fccke Motorsport duo – second and fourth respectively in last year’s championship standings – will\u00a0start all three\u00a0Silverstone races from positions right in the glowing midst of the 26-car field, with Felix’s exact grid slots being 14th, 13th and 14th.<\/p>\n

The best lap of the session was set by Prema Powerteam’s Esteban Ocon,\u00a0who wound up\u00a00.782s ahead of Felix.<\/p>\n

FELIX:<\/p>\n

“This has been\u00a0a really bad day for us.\u00a0Everyone is working so hard, and to find ourselves in this position isn’t fantastic.\u00a0Lucas and I have run at a similar pace all day, and I’m afraid we’ve both\u00a0pretty much found the limit of our current package. It’s a general lack of grip, which means\u00a0the problem is\u00a0probably pretty fundamental. That’s the realistic situation we’re in at the moment, and there’s no point trying to hide from that.<\/p>\n

“Still,\u00a0we have all been in this position before, and we will all\u00a0be there again – this is a part of motorsport.\u00a0It’s still\u00a0very early\u00a0days\u00a0in the season,\u00a0and\u00a0I will\u00a0do everything I can to\u00a0help us return to\u00a0the front where I think we belong.\u00a0I know everyone in the team will do the same, and we’ll fight back – even though making much progress in the races this weekend will be difficult.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
