{"id":5457,"date":"2018-03-15T10:27:12","date_gmt":"2018-03-15T09:27:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/b106543.web05.cust.bluerange.se\/?p=5457"},"modified":"2018-03-15T12:55:02","modified_gmt":"2018-03-15T11:55:02","slug":"rapid-adaptation-key-for-rosenqvist-in-punta-del-este","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/felixracing.se\/en\/rapid-adaptation-key-for-rosenqvist-in-punta-del-este\/","title":{"rendered":"Rapid adaptation key for Rosenqvist in Punta del Este"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/b106543.web05.cust.bluerange.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Felix1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-5454\" alt=\"Felix1\" src=\"https:\/\/b106543.web05.cust.bluerange.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Felix1.jpg\" width=\"920\" height=\"614\" srcset=\"https:\/\/felixracing.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Felix1.jpg 920w, https:\/\/felixracing.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Felix1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/felixracing.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Felix1-561x374.jpg 561w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 920px) 100vw, 920px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Two weeks have passed since Felix Rosenqvist was forced to surrender a solid lead in the Mexico City E-Prix and retire with technical issues.\u00a0As disappointing\u00a0as it was,\u00a0the current title contender\u00a0is opting for an unemotional approach as the ABB FIA Formula E Championship hits\u00a0mid-season\u00a0this\u00a0Saturday on the shores of a South American seaside resort.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>From his second pole position of the season, Rosenqvist sprinted off into an early lead in Mexico City, allowing him to\u00a0extend\u00a0his record as the only\u00a0driver to have led more than 50\u00a0% of the Formula E races he has entered (59 %, or 10\/17).<\/p>\n<p>A Battery Management System failure washed away\u00a0what seemed to be\u00a0a likely victory, however, instead\u00a0leaving Rosenqvist 12 points behind Techeetah&#8217;s\u00a0Jean-Eric Vergne in the championship standings.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Mexico was tough, but I&#8217;ve moved on from it and I actually wasn&#8217;t as devastated as people might think,&#8221; <strong>says Felix Rosenqvist<\/strong>. &#8220;It was one of those\u00a0rare occasions where I felt I did the perfect job; I&#8217;m my own hardest critic, but that was one of the best events I&#8217;ve done in terms of my own performance. Just a shame we had that issue.&#8221;\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Still holding second overall, Rosenqvist and Mahindra Racing have been hard at work since Mexico trying to make sure the problem does not reoccur.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;I wouldn&#8217;t really say we&#8217;re confident going into the first race following a BMS error, but we&#8217;ve made every reasonable effort within the short time frame available to make sure it doesn&#8217;t happen again,&#8221; <strong>Rosenqvist explains<\/strong>. &#8220;I will be going about this race like any other &#8211; that&#8217;s the only way to do it &#8211; but of course we need to keep an extra eye on certain things.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Coming into attention this weekend is\u00a0the\u00a0Punta del Este E-Prix in Uruguay; race six out of twelve on the 2017-18 Formula E calendar.\u00a0The fast seaside track first appeared in seasons one and two of the\u00a0championship, but was not part of the series during Rosenqvist&#8217;s rookie campaign in 2016-17.<\/p>\n<p>Its\u00a0return to the all-electric limelight on Saturday, therefore, means Rosenqvist is in for a new acquaintance\u00a0&#8211; and a tough sporting challenge.<\/p>\n<p>Not only will he have to learn the demanding 20-turn street track\u00a0within the constraints of Formula E&#8217;s limited amount of practice;\u00a0he will also need to play catch up with his main title rivals,\u00a0who were all part of the grid in both previous Punta del Este events.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Adaptability will be crucial for me this weekend,&#8221; <strong>Rosenqvist admits<\/strong>. &#8220;I know I&#8217;m slightly on the back foot in terms of experience here, but I usually get up to speed pretty quickly in new places. It&#8217;s something I like to challenge myself at. As long as we can get the car to work as well as it&#8217;s been doing so far this season, I&#8217;m not too worried about the rest. It&#8217;s an important race, but I&#8217;m feeling relaxed.
