Felix Rosenqvist will make his first 24 Hours of Le Mans appearance in this year\u2019s edition of the legendary sports car race, contesting the French classic in the LMP2 prototype class.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Rosenqvist – whose main 2017 programme revolves around dual Formula E and Super Formula commitments – will slot into the #21 ORECA 07 Gibson machine entered by the DragonSpeed squad, completing a driver line-up that also includes team regulars Henrik Hedman (Sweden) and Ben Hanley (Great Britain).<\/p>\n

It will mark 25-year-old Rosenqvist\u2019s first attempt at the world\u2019s most esteemed endurance race, which dates back to 1923 and takes place\u00a0for the 85th\u00a0time this summer.<\/p>\n

\u201dRacing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans has always been a dream of mine,\u201d\u00a0says Felix Rosenqvist<\/strong>. \u201dIt\u2019s one of the world\u2019s most famous races, and to drive a sports prototype on that particular track I\u2019m sure will be something very, very special.<\/em><\/p>\n

“I had my first taste of 24-hour racing at Spa last year and it was a truly standout experience, so I can\u2019t wait to find out what Le Mans \u2013 the most prestigious one of all \u2013 is like.\u00a0I\u2019m looking forward to working with DragonSpeed to try and achieve a strong result, and I\u2019d like to thank them for giving me this opportunity.\u201d \u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

The LMP2 category in which Rosenqvist will compete is the second-quickest of four classes at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, featuring 600-bhp prototype cars.<\/p>\n

“This will also mark our own first attempt at Le Mans, and for this special occasion it\u2019s been hugely important to build a squad that we believe can challenge at the front.\u00a0Felix\u2019s well-known speed will be absolutely crucial to that, and makes the ideal addition to our well-established pairing with Henrik and Ben.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The 2017 24 Hours of Le Mans will be run on the semi-permanent 13.6 km Circuit de la Sarthe \u2013 laid out partly on everyday roads on the outskirts of the city \u2013 on 17-18 June.<\/p>\n
