{"id":4708,"date":"2016-10-16T19:28:44","date_gmt":"2016-10-16T17:28:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/b106543.web05.cust.bluerange.se\/?p=4708"},"modified":"2016-10-16T19:28:44","modified_gmt":"2016-10-16T17:28:44","slug":"felix-rosenqvist-endures-difficult-dtm-finale","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/felixracing.se\/en\/felix-rosenqvist-endures-difficult-dtm-finale\/","title":{"rendered":"Felix Rosenqvist endures difficult DTM finale"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/b106543.web05.cust.bluerange.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/DTM916_04289SH_TH.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-4705\" alt=\"Motorsports: DTM race Hockenheimring\" src=\"https:\/\/b106543.web05.cust.bluerange.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/DTM916_04289SH_TH-1024x682.jpg\" width=\"785\" height=\"522\" srcset=\"https:\/\/felixracing.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/DTM916_04289SH_TH-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/felixracing.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/DTM916_04289SH_TH-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/felixracing.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/DTM916_04289SH_TH-1024x682-255x170.jpg 255w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 785px) 100vw, 785px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Felix Rosenqvist was forced to retire from both of this weekend\u2019s two season-ending DTM races at Hockenheim with technical issues.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Rosenqvist entered the final round of the season in high spirits on the back of a strong showing last time out in Budapest (Hungary), and eager to return to the Hockenheim track on which he celebrated a record eight Formula 3 wins between 2011-2015.<\/p>\n<p>It would not turn out as per pre-event hopes, however, with Rosenqvist instead ending up without adding to his DTM points tally after having to park up in the middle stages of both the Saturday and Sunday races (in the latter with a misfiring engine).<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThis just wasn\u2019t my weekend,\u201d <strong>says Felix Rosenqvist<\/strong>. \u201cThe most frustrating thing is that the pace was genuinely strong, particularly on Sunday, but that I wasn\u2019t really able to demonstrate it. I made a mistake on what should have been my fastest lap in first qualifying and went off in the last corner, which meant a lowly grid slot for Race 1, and I then encountered traffic in second qualifying on Sunday. I\u2019m confident we would have scored a number of points still, but unfortunately we ran into some uncommon technical problems and were forced to retire from both races. Not a great way to end the DTM season, but at least the races here were great fun to drive for as long as they lasted!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Rosenqvist was called up to race for Mercedes-AMG DTM before the round in Moscow earlier in the year, replacing Formula 1-bound Frenchman Esteban Ocon. The 24-year-old Swede has since gone on to contest a total of four championship meetings, scoring twice.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cGetting to race in the DTM this year has been very interesting,\u201d <strong>Rosenqvist concludes<\/strong>. \u201cIt\u2019s an insanely competitive championship; there were 20 cars within half a second in qualifying here this weekend, which is just unreal\u2026 It\u2019s a very, very high level and I\u2019m happy to have been given this chance to prove myself, even though this particular weekend didn\u2019t go as expected.
