\"QRace\"<\/a>Felix kept his cool to claim victory in the Macau Grand Prix Qualification Race, leading home Lucas Auer in a M\u00fccke Motorsport 1-2 after overtaking the Austrian under braking for Lisboa following a safety car restart.<\/p>\n

Starting the race from pole position after topping yesterday’s qualifying session, Felix got away well off the line, only for the traditional slipstreaming effect<\/strong><\/a> to allow fellow front-row starter Auer and Max Verstappen to rocket by on the run to Lisboa.<\/p>\n

With Verstappen then crashing out a few laps later, the battle up front turned into a pure intra-team dispute, with a mid-race safety car appearance\u00a0adding further spice to the mix.<\/p>\n

At the restart, Felix\u00a0stayed on Auer’s tail through the R Bend sweep onto the main straight,\u00a0and eventually worked his way past\u00a0his team-mate\u00a0with a bold overtaking move\u00a0under braking for\u00a0Lisboa. From there, Felix quickly\u00a0opened up\u00a0a crucial gap to the rest of the field thanks to a blistering\u00a0run through the\u00a0mountain section, and stayed in front to\u00a0take the chequered flag\u00a0ahead of Auer, Tom Blomqvist and Esteban Ocon.<\/p>\n

Felix set the fastest lap of the race and was the only driver to dip below the 2m13s barrier.<\/p>\n

The Qualification Race is used to determine the grid for Sunday’s all-important finale,\u00a0which means\u00a0that Felix will start tomorrow\u2019s main race, the 2014 Suncity Group Macau Grand Prix, from pole position.<\/p>\n
