{"id":2904,"date":"2014-10-19T12:13:45","date_gmt":"2014-10-19T10:13:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/b106543.web05.cust.bluerange.se\/?p=2904"},"modified":"2014-10-19T13:08:40","modified_gmt":"2014-10-19T11:08:40","slug":"felix-just-misses-out-on-podium-as-2014-season-comes-to-a-close","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/felixracing.se\/en\/felix-just-misses-out-on-podium-as-2014-season-comes-to-a-close\/","title":{"rendered":"Felix just misses out on podium as 2014 season comes to a close"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/b106543.web05.cust.bluerange.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/R3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2902\" alt=\"R3\" src=\"https:\/\/b106543.web05.cust.bluerange.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/R3-300x199.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/felixracing.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/R3-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/felixracing.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/R3-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/felixracing.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/R3.jpg 1400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Felix capped off the 2014 FIA Formula 3 European Championship campaign with fourth in the final race of the season at Hockenheim on Sunday morning.<\/p>\n<p>Starting from third on the grid, Felix slipped behind Jordan King on the opening lap, and then spent most of the remainder of the race defending fourth\u00a0from Antonio Giovinazzi.<\/p>\n<p>Having survived an attack from the Italian in the Mercedes Arena, Felix opened up a more comfortable gap over the second half of the race, eventually taking the chequered flag\u00a00.8 seconds ahead of the Carlin man.<\/p>\n<p>While the outcome saw Felix just miss out on a podium he so\u00a0eagerly craved,\u00a0he\u00a0could at least\u00a0take some comfort from having beaten both 2014 champion Esteban Ocon\u00a0and 2015 Toro Rosso Formula 1 driver Max Verstappen across the line in the final race of the\u00a0season.<\/p>\n<p>Felix ends up eighth in the 2014 FIA Formula 3 European\u00a0Championship standings, having\u00a0scored one victory\u00a0as\u00a0he triumphed in the Grand Prix de Pau street race at the beginning of the summer.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>FELIX:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m really, really\u00a0disappointed right now &#8211; there&#8217;s no point trying to hide it. I\u00a0did everything I could to get onto that podium today, but the pace\u00a0simply wasn&#8217;t good enough.\u00a0I was driving at the limit and I couldn&#8217;t have pushed harder &#8211; the car was really, really on the edge. It&#8217;s been the same story all year, really, and it&#8217;s been difficult. I will now sit down with the team and analyse what I could have done better, and what we could have done better together, to make sure I learn from this season for the future.
