{"id":2886,"date":"2014-10-18T17:31:07","date_gmt":"2014-10-18T15:31:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/b106543.web05.cust.bluerange.se\/?p=2886"},"modified":"2014-10-18T17:51:57","modified_gmt":"2014-10-18T15:51:57","slug":"felix-opts-for-conservative-race-2-approach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/felixracing.se\/en\/felix-opts-for-conservative-race-2-approach\/","title":{"rendered":"Felix opts for conservative Race 2 approach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/b106543.web05.cust.bluerange.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/gal201.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2884\" alt=\"gal20\" src=\"https:\/\/b106543.web05.cust.bluerange.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/gal201-300x199.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/felixracing.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/gal201-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/felixracing.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/gal201-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/felixracing.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/gal201-1024x682-561x373.jpg 561w, https:\/\/felixracing.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/gal201.jpg 1400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Felix followed up his fifth-place finish in this morning\u2019s Race 1 with sixth in the second 22-lap contest of the weekend at Hockenheim on Saturday afternoon, having opted for a conservative tyre strategy.<\/p>\n<p>Starting the event from fifth on the grid, Felix dropped to seventh over the opening laps as he nursed a set of used tyres against rivals shod with two &#8211; or in some cases four &#8211; new slicks.<\/p>\n<p>When Jordan King was later forced into the pits with damage to his Carlin Dallara, Felix inherited sixth, a position he then held on to across the line as he followed fifth-placed Max Verstappen home.<\/p>\n<p>The race was red-flagged on the 22nd and final lap when Antonio Fuoco launched himself over the back of Jake Dennis in the Mercedes Arena, but the late timing of the incident meant a restart was never on the cards.<\/p>\n<p>British squad Carlin celebrated yet another success, scoring\u00a0a one-two victory courtesy of Tom Blomqvist and Antonio Giovinazzi.<\/p>\n<p>Felix&#8217;s conservative tyre approach in Race 2 will stand him in better stead for tomorrow&#8217;s season-concluding Race 3, which he is set to start from third place on fresh Hankook rubber.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>FELIX:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I always knew that this race was going to be tough given our conservative tyre strategy. The pace obviously suffered accordingly, but I tried to hold on as well as I could. I had a lot of understeer, and it was not the easiest race I&#8217;ve driven &#8211; but hopefully we will be able to reap the rewards tomorrow.
