\"FP1\"<\/a>Felix got the penultimate FIA Formula 3 European Championship round of the season off to a promising start at Imola, after going fourth fastest in a closely-fought free practice session on Friday morning.<\/p>\n

Like in the official in-season test at the Italian venue\u00a0earlier this\u00a0week<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0running was halted by red-flag stoppages on several occasions – most notably when Felix’s M\u00fccke Motorsport team-mate Lucas Auer crashed at the Villeneuve chicane after just six laps and wrecked his Dallara against the barriers. The Austrian was out\u00a0for the rest of the session, and\u00a0appeared in bandage in the paddock following the accident.\u00a0Auer is still expected to take part in this afternoon’s qualifying session.<\/p>\n

Italian home favourites Prema Powerteam led a\u00a0one-two\u00a0as\u00a0Ferrari prot\u00e9g\u00e9 Antonio Fuoco topped the\u00a0times on a 1m36.991s ahead of championship leader Esteban Ocon (1m37.120s). Third quickest was Formula 1-bound Max Verstappen on a 1m37.135s, with Felix fourth – just fractions behind the Dutchman –\u00a0thanks to a late\u00a01m37.151s lap.<\/p>\n

Qualifying\u00a0is\u00a0set to take centre stage at 14.20 local time this afternoon.<\/p>\n
