\"Q2\"<\/a>The second\u00a0qualifying session of the weekend at the\u00a0Red Bull Ring marked an\u00a0up-turn in form for Felix and M\u00fccke Motorsport, as they out-qualified\u00a0championship leader\u00a0Esteban Ocon as well as\u00a0overall runner-up\u00a0Max Verstappen at the Austrian Grand Prix circuit.<\/p>\n

Coming off the back of his fourth-place finish in this morning’s Race 1, Felix headed into second qualifying eager to keep up momentum, and duly set about throwing in the laps as the session got underway.<\/p>\n

After an early\u00a0red-flag stoppage, brought about when Hector Hurst parked his West-Tec machine\u00a0with engine problems on the start\/finish straight, the fastest laps were all set in the closing stages, with Felix eventually ending up fifth on the outright charts used to determine the Race 2 grid, out-pacing Ocon\u00a0and Verstappen by the odd tenth of a second.<\/p>\n

On the list covering\u00a0second-fastest times, however,\u00a0which\u00a0forms\u00a0the basis for tomorrow’s Race 3 grid, Felix had to make do with\u00a0eighth after getting stuck in traffic on a lap which would otherwise almost certainly have been enough for another top five effort.<\/p>\n

Carlin’s Antonio Giovinazzi swept to a set of double pole positions, ahead of team-mate Tom Blomqvist as the British outfit continued to enjoy a strong weekend. Felix wound up 0.366s shy of Giovinazzi’s outright benchmark, slicing half of the deficit of yesterday (six tenths) to P1 in qualifying.<\/p>\n

FELIX:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“That was a positive session. We made some small adjustments to the car beforehand, and they seemed to work quite well. Better still, I felt there was actually\u00a0a bit more in it, and I could probably have found another tenth or two with a perfect run. I only really got one proper lap in, which is why we’re a little bit further down the list for Race 3, but I’m reasonably happy and I think we’re better placed for the races tomorrow than we were for Race 1 earlier today.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
