{"id":2304,"date":"2014-08-01T16:26:33","date_gmt":"2014-08-01T14:26:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/b106543.web05.cust.bluerange.se\/?p=2304"},"modified":"2014-08-01T16:27:00","modified_gmt":"2014-08-01T14:27:00","slug":"free-practice-gets-red-bull-ring-weekend-underway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/felixracing.se\/en\/free-practice-gets-red-bull-ring-weekend-underway\/","title":{"rendered":"Free practice gets Red Bull Ring weekend underway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/b106543.web05.cust.bluerange.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/FP1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2300\" alt=\"FP1\" src=\"https:\/\/b106543.web05.cust.bluerange.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/FP1-300x199.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/felixracing.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/FP1-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/felixracing.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/FP1-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/felixracing.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/FP1.jpg 1400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Felix\u00a0and M\u00fccke Motorsport worked their way through an extensive test programme as the\u00a0FIA Formula 3 European Championship weekend at\u00a0the Red Bull Ring got underway with 80 minutes of\u00a0free practice on Friday afternoon, although they did not receive all the answers they were looking for going into the eighth round of the season.<\/p>\n<p>Despite continued threats of rain, the full duration of practice took place on a completely dry track, with Felix setting the 15th fastest time &#8211; 0.8s shy of pace-setter\u00a0Antonio Giovinazzi (one out of a\u00a0full five Carlin runners to feature inside the\u00a0top ten).<\/p>\n<p>Felix, and a host of his rivals, however,\u00a0were forced to see\u00a0several laps deleted\u00a0due to\u00a0excessive use of the\u00a0tarmac run-off areas at Turns 1 and 7, rendering the results of practice somewhat misleading.<\/p>\n<p>Having conducted a positive pre-event test back in Germany, M\u00fccke Motorsport travelled to the Styrian Alps hoping\u00a0to verify their findings,\u00a0but had to be content with tenth as their best practice result after local hero Lucas Auer set a 1m25.983s to end up less than two tenths ahead of Felix.<\/p>\n<p>Qualifying for the first race of the weekend takes place at 18.05 local time this evening.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>FELIX:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Not a great session for us. We struggled under braking and locked up too much, particularly at Turn 3. We still have a lot of work to do,\u00a0but the car felt strong in the slower corners and that gives us a baseline on which to\u00a0build. We have a couple of hours until qualifying and\u00a0I&#8217;m confident we&#8217;ll be stronger by
