{"id":2229,"date":"2014-07-13T16:16:25","date_gmt":"2014-07-13T14:16:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/b106543.web05.cust.bluerange.se\/?p=2229"},"modified":"2014-07-13T17:02:28","modified_gmt":"2014-07-13T15:02:28","slug":"moscow-race-3-felix-grabs-fifth-on-final-lap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/felixracing.se\/en\/moscow-race-3-felix-grabs-fifth-on-final-lap\/","title":{"rendered":"Moscow Race 3: Felix grabs fifth on final lap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/b106543.web05.cust.bluerange.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/gal19.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2226\" alt=\"gal19\" src=\"https:\/\/b106543.web05.cust.bluerange.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/gal19-300x199.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/felixracing.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/gal19-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/felixracing.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/gal19-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/felixracing.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/gal19.jpg 1400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Felix brought the FIA Formula 3 European Championship round at Moscow Raceway to a close with a solid performance in Sunday&#8217;s concluding Race 3,\u00a0after taking advantage of a late safety car\u00a0situation to haul himself into the top five on the final lap.<\/p>\n<p>In what\u00a0turned out to be the most entertaining race of the F3 fraternity&#8217;s maiden\u00a0visit to Russia, the\u00a0event had to be shortened for time reasons due to two safety car appearances; the first of which was triggered by an opening-lap clash\u00a0involving F\u00e9lix Serrall\u00e9s and Jules Szymkowiak, and the second one being called\u00a0in the closing stages following a\u00a0spectacular collision between Lucas Auer and Jordan King.<\/p>\n<p>Felix, having stayed\u00a0away from\u00a0the early\u00a0wrangles from tenth on the grid,\u00a0was running sixth when the second\u00a0safety car was called back into the pits with one lap to spare, setting up a last-gasp sprint to the finish.<\/p>\n<p>Felix duly took advantage to\u00a0overtake Dennis van de Laar for fifth on the start\/finish straight, grabbing his best result of what has otherwise been a challenging weekend on the outskirts of the Russian capital.<\/p>\n<p>The Auer\/King clash\u00a0prompted wild gesticulation\u00a0as the duo\u00a0debated who was to\u00a0blame, but the stewards\u00a0ultimately held Auer responsible and\u00a0awarded the Austrian a five-place grid penalty for the opening race of his home event in Spielberg next month.<\/p>\n<p>Felix leaves Moscow having scored\u00a0in all of this weekend&#8217;s three races, although he will be looking to return to the podium as the championship regroups at the Red Bull Ring &#8211; scene of his historic triple win of 2013 &#8211; in three weeks&#8217; time.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>FELIX:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That was the best race of the weekend for me. Fifth isn&#8217;t a result I&#8217;m thrilled about, but we did improve our\u00a0race pace and I\u00a0was much quicker than the drivers I was battling. When the second safety car came out, I knew that was\u00a0my final opportunity to\u00a0get inside the top\u00a0five,\u00a0and\u00a0it was good to pull that move off.
