\"R1\"<\/a>Felix finished eighth in the opening FIA Formula 3 European Championship race of the weekend at Moscow Raceway,\u00a0in an event that saw\u00a0M\u00fccke Motorsport trial an alternative set-up\u00a0amid continued attempts at unlocking performance ahead of this afternoon’s second qualifying showdown.<\/p>\n

After qualifying a lowly 11th<\/strong> yesterday<\/strong><\/a>, Felix and the team agreed that radical changes were needed ahead of the race and duly completed a host of set-up alterations.<\/p>\n

Felix, eventually promoted to tenth on the grid following a\u00a0penalty that demoted Jake Dennis, got a good start and powered past F\u00e9lix Serrall\u00e9s and Jules Szymkowiak to take eighth\u00a0early on.\u00a0He quickly edged onto the gearbox of Nicholas Latifi, but with overtaking proving near-impossible to conduct around the twisty\u00a0circuit, Felix’s progress was halted\u00a0and he could do little to upset the Canadian Prema Powerteam man despite being visibly quicker.<\/p>\n

As it was, Felix followed Latifi home to finish eighth, while Esteban Ocon demonstrated the importance of a strong qualifying performance by converting pole position into victory,\u00a0holding\u00a0off Jordan King’s Carlin\u00a0machine.<\/p>\n

Qualifying 2, which sets up the grid for the second and third races of the weekend,\u00a0is scheduled to take place at 17.40 local time this evening.<\/p>\n

FELIX:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“We obviously had to react after the outcome of yesterday, and so we opted to make quite a significant set-up change\u00a0ahead of\u00a0the race. It did feel slightly better –\u00a0it restored some of the confidence to push, at least in the quicker corners – and it’s a step in the right direction for this afternoon.\u00a0The race itself was\u00a0settled after the start; it’s very hard to overtake around here, and there was little I could do to get past Latifi. Qualifying is key and we’ll get another shot at that in a couple of hours.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
