\"gal22\"<\/a>Felix was denied another shot at the podium in the final race of the weekend at\u00a0Norisring\u00a0when he was delayed in an opening-lap\u00a0collision that\u00a0involved almost half the field.<\/p>\n

Starting from third on the grid, Felix had his eyes set on a podium assault to make up for a torrid opening two races at the Nuremberg venue, and was duly locked in a fight for the leading positions as the field headed towards the first corner.<\/p>\n

Once there, however, Jake Dennis literally launched his Carlin machine\u00a0across the inside of the pack,\u00a0appearing to\u00a0out-brake himself as\u00a0he came bouncing\u00a0over the apex kerbs\u00a0– right into the path of Esteban Ocon and Felix, who\u00a0could do nothing but take avoiding action while Dennis came to a halt.<\/p>\n

With Felix trapped\u00a0between the wall and the Englishman’s car, he\u00a0was left with no option but to wait for the marshals to clear\u00a0his way, and re-joined dead last in 20th place. Several other drivers, including M\u00fccke Motorsport stablemate Lucas Auer, faced a similar – albeit less costly – destiny\u00a0as the Grundig hairpin\u00a0bore\u00a0more resemblance to a\u00a0parking\u00a0lot than a racing corner.<\/p>\n

From there, he\u00a0did what he could to salvage\u00a0any potential points, overtaking\u00a0a host of rivals only to miss out\u00a0on tenth – and the final point – by a tiny 0.05 seconds as he crossed the line side-by-side with team-mate Tatiana Calder\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

To lend weight to his original podium cause, Felix set the second-fastest lap of the race.<\/p>\n

After bagging pole position in Friday qualifying, Felix’s weekend again went largely unrewarded. Never one to give up, however, Felix will be given his next opportunity to fight back when the FIA\u00a0Formula 3 European Championship reaches Moscow\u00a0in two weeks’ time.<\/p>\n

FELIX:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Well, there’s not much to say about that. Jake made a mistake that\u00a0cost us dearly, and once I was stuck at the first corner it was always going to be tough to score points.\u00a0The pace was good and it was fun fighting\u00a0my way back up the field, but I was obviously hoping for much more in this race. It has been another tough weekend for us, but our qualifying performances show that there’s potential for the future. Next up is Moscow, which is a brand new circuit for me,\u00a0and\u00a0I will be back to try and turn the tide by then.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
