{"id":2021,"date":"2014-06-29T12:11:27","date_gmt":"2014-06-29T10:11:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/b106543.web05.cust.bluerange.se\/?p=2021"},"modified":"2014-06-29T12:45:51","modified_gmt":"2014-06-29T10:45:51","slug":"felix-takes-sixth-in-chaotic-race-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/felixracing.se\/en\/felix-takes-sixth-in-chaotic-race-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Felix takes sixth in chaotic Race 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/b106543.web05.cust.bluerange.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/R22.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2018\" alt=\"R2\" src=\"https:\/\/b106543.web05.cust.bluerange.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/R22-300x200.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/felixracing.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/R22-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/felixracing.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/R22-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/felixracing.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/R22.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Felix\u00a0survived treacherous wet\/dry conditions to finish sixth in\u00a0a chaotic second FIA Formula 3 European Championship race of the weekend at the\u00a0Norisring on Sunday morning, as the predicted rain duly hit Nuremberg and called for\u00a0the event to be\u00a0red-flagged at the halfway stages.<\/p>\n<p>The race started on a largely dry track, with Felix getting away well off the line but losing two positions to Lucas Auer and Santino Ferrucci as he overshot the first corner.<\/p>\n<p>Further down the field, Spike Goddard triggered a chain-reaction that brought himself, Jules Szymkowiak and Felipe Guimaraes into immediate retirement, bringing out the safety car for the first of what would prove to be a full four times.<\/p>\n<p>At the restart, Felix overtook Ferrucci for fifth, but had to surrender the position to a flying\u00a0Jordan King\u00a0a few laps later. King subsequently passed Auer for fourth, with Felix now back in the rhythm and putting increasing pressure on the duo ahead.<\/p>\n<p>On lap\u00a012, Felix went down the inside of Auer at the Dutzendteich hairpin, stealing fifth from his team-mate only to\u00a0out-brake himself as he approached Turn 1 on the following tour, the circuit now starting to suffer\u00a0from deteriorating grip levels as the ever-present rain intensified.<\/p>\n<p>One\u00a0lap later, Auer duplicated Felix&#8217;s Turn 1 shenanigans to\u00a0drop back\u00a0behind Jake\u00a0Dennis (the Carlin cars appearing to\u00a0run strongly in the wet),\u00a0before the race was eventually red-flagged\u00a0to avoid a serious accident with the field running on slicks\u00a0in ever-worsening conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Once the race resumed, it did so with all drivers equipped with wet-weather Hankooks behind the safety car. Tom Blomqvist made contact with Esteban Ocon at the Grundig Kehre and ended up in the wall, promoting Felix to sixth, and when Ocon was handed a drive-through penalty\u00a0for the incident, Felix found himself fifth.<\/p>\n<p>Felix was among the fastest drivers on track in the closing stages, giving\u00a0Dennis a run for his money in a late battle for fourth, but then suffered a gigantic moment\u00a0under braking for Dutzendteich a few laps from home &#8211; just escaping the wall as his M\u00fccke Motorsport car veered from left to right in spectacular fashion. Felix\u00a0lost a place to\u00a0Ferrucci, but eventually\u00a0survived a chaotic race to finish\u00a0sixth.<\/p>\n<p>The final race of the weekend takes place this afternoon, with Felix set to start from third on the grid.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>FELIX:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That wasn&#8217;t the best race of my life. It was difficult out there, with changeable conditions, and it was just one of those races where it didn&#8217;t quite work out the way I&#8217;d been hoping for it to. I braked on the outside going into Turn 1 on the formation lap and thought the grip was good out there, so I decided to go for that line on the first lap. For some reason, however, I just locked up as soon as I hit the brakes. In the closing stages, in the rain, it was impossible to see anything behind the cars in front, so not much to do. There is one more race to go this weekend, and I really want to finish this event with a
