{"id":1468,"date":"2014-05-30T18:49:39","date_gmt":"2014-05-30T16:49:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/b106543.web05.cust.bluerange.se\/?p=1468"},"modified":"2014-05-30T19:03:55","modified_gmt":"2014-05-30T17:03:55","slug":"felix-to-start-race-1-from-sixth-following-messy-qualifying-session","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/felixracing.se\/en\/felix-to-start-race-1-from-sixth-following-messy-qualifying-session\/","title":{"rendered":"Felix to start Race 1 from sixth following &#8220;messy&#8221; qualifying session"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/b106543.web05.cust.bluerange.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Budapest18.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1463\" alt=\"Budapest18\" src=\"https:\/\/b106543.web05.cust.bluerange.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Budapest18-300x199.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/felixracing.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Budapest18-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/felixracing.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Budapest18-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/felixracing.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Budapest18-1024x682-561x373.jpg 561w, https:\/\/felixracing.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Budapest18.jpg 1400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Felix will start the first FIA Formula 3 European Championship race of the weekend from sixth on the grid following what he labelled a &#8220;messy&#8221; qualifying outing at the Hungaroring on Friday evening.<\/p>\n<p>After ending up second in the preceding free practice session, Felix had laid the foundations for a strong qualifying performance at the Budapest venue,\u00a0only to\u00a0find himself\u00a0outside the pole position scrap as a combination of factors hindered his progress.<\/p>\n<p>The first half of the 20-minute session was scuppered by traffic, with Felix constantly encountering slower cars as he tried desperately to find an uninterrupted lap.<\/p>\n<p>Once in clear air, the tyres had then lost most of their bite, leaving Felix a disappointed sixth &#8211; his frustration depicted by the fact that his eventual best was\u00a0close to\u00a0two tenths <em>slower<\/em> than he&#8217;d\u00a0managed in practice.<\/p>\n<p>Pole position went to Prema Powerteam&#8217;s Esteban Ocon, with Felix ending up 0.633s adrift of the Frenchman.<\/p>\n<p>Race\u00a01\u00a0takes place tomorrow morning, with a second qualifying\u00a0session later on Saturday\u00a0then setting up the grid for Race 2 and 3.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>FELIX:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Less than we expected. It was a very messy session, in which I encountered traffic on each of my first five or six laps. Once I found some clear air, the rears (tyres) had lost most of their grip, and there was little I could do to improve. To add to that, the overall balance was worse than this morning, which I think was due to a change\u00a0in track conditions. I was almost two tenths slower than in free practice, which probably says it all.
