\"Budapest12\"<\/a>Felix gave himself the answers he was seeking by going second fastest in\u00a0FIA Formula 3 European Championship\u00a0free practice at the Hungaroring on Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Despite winning the Grand Prix de Pau three weeks ago, Felix\u00a0took a slightly cautious approach into\u00a0Budapest,\u00a0with\u00a0the Hungarian circuit differing substantially from that of the French street\u00a0venue and placing a whole new set of demands on\u00a0chassis characteristics – potentially leaving the M\u00fccke Motorsport charge prone to the same kind of issues that hit its early-campaign performances.<\/p>\n

As practice went underway on a damp but drying track, however,\u00a0the progress indicated\u00a0by the\u00a0Pau triumph remained apparent, as Felix\u00a0set the second-fastest\u00a0lap of the\u00a080-minute session to end up 0.224s adrift of pace-setter and championship leader Esteban Ocon.<\/p>\n

The duo enjoyed some breathing space to third-placed Antonio Fuoco, who wound up a further three tenths off Ocon\u00a0as the\u00a0Prema Powerteam team-mates sandwiched Felix in the top three.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0other\u00a0M\u00fccke Motorsport runners endured a more torrid session. Lucas Auer clashed with Carlin’s Sean Gelael in the early\u00a0stages and sustained session-ending suspension damage,\u00a0while Roy Nissany – a Budapest resident – ended up 14th.<\/p>\n

\"300\"<\/a>Felix also suffered a late setback, as fuel pressure problems forced him to park his car on the approach to Turn 13 five minutes before the chequered flag. M\u00fccke Motorsport are currently investigating the cause of the problem.<\/p>\n

FELIX:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“A strong start to the weekend – which was important for us here in Budapest. We seem to be competitive – particularly since my fastest lap wasn’t that great – and the\u00a0gap to Esteban\u00a0is not impossible to bridge. I was building up to a final attempt when the\u00a0dashboard signalled a fuel pressure problem, so I opted not to risk anything and parked on the side of the\u00a0track. We’re currently analysing the problem, but it shouldn’t be too serious and I’m really looking forward to qualifying this afternoon.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
