{"id":1276,"date":"2014-05-10T18:18:30","date_gmt":"2014-05-10T16:18:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/b106543.web05.cust.bluerange.se\/?p=1276"},"modified":"2014-05-10T18:56:38","modified_gmt":"2014-05-10T16:56:38","slug":"felix-strikes-back-to-secure-double-pau-front-row","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/felixracing.se\/en\/felix-strikes-back-to-secure-double-pau-front-row\/","title":{"rendered":"Felix strikes back to secure double Pau front row"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/b106543.web05.cust.bluerange.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/gal202.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1274\" alt=\"gal20\" src=\"https:\/\/b106543.web05.cust.bluerange.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/gal202-300x199.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/felixracing.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/gal202-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/felixracing.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/gal202-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/felixracing.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/gal202-1024x682-255x170.jpg 255w, https:\/\/felixracing.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/gal202.jpg 1400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Felix finally got to complete a trouble-free session as second qualifying for the Grand Prix de Pau took centre stage on Saturday evening, immediately proving his true potential by comfortably topping his group to grab second place on the grid for tomorrow&#8217;s second and third races.<\/p>\n<p>Running in the second part of the <a title=\"Video: Pau qualifying format explained\" href=\"https:\/\/b106543.web05.cust.bluerange.se\/video-pau-qualifying-format-explained\/?lang=en\"><strong>&#8220;split&#8221; qualifying session<\/strong><\/a>, Felix wasted no time in heading to the top of the timesheets, working his way down to an eventual\u00a01m10.197s best that saw him lead his group by a full 0.350 seconds around the challenging street venue.<\/p>\n<p>Second\u00a0quickest in group was Tom\u00a0Blomqvist (1m10.547s), while Felix&#8217;s M\u00fccke Motorsport team-mate Lucas Auer &#8211; <a title=\"Pau qualifying turns to disaster as engine problems return\" href=\"https:\/\/b106543.web05.cust.bluerange.se\/pau-qualifying-turns-to-disaster-as-engine-problems-return\/?lang=en\"><strong>who topped the same group\u00a0yesterday in Felix&#8217;s absence<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; could only manage sixth.<\/p>\n<p>While Felix held a clear advantage over\u00a0the runners participating in his segment of the session, there was a wider story to take into consideration &#8211; that of a frenetic overall pole scrap. Esteban Ocon, who ran in the earlier group, eventually\u00a0came out on top by a trifling 0.005 seconds, his 1m10.192s effort\u00a0edging out Felix by the tiniest of margins.<\/p>\n<p>The outcome of the session means Felix will start tomorrow&#8217;s\u00a0second and third races from the front row, alongside Ocon.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>FELIX:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That was just what we needed &#8211; a\u00a0problem-free, decent session to prove\u00a0our true pace.\u00a0We\u00a0have had the potential for this all weekend,\u00a0but\u00a0now is the time to leave yesterday behind and just focus\u00a0on the future. I\u00a0was extremely determined to make the most of this session, and\u00a0I\u00a0was willing to take some pretty big risks;\u00a0good on the car to take some of those hits over the kerbs!\u00a0With a perfect lap, I know we could have edged ahead of Esteban to grab pole, but it\u00a0actually doesn&#8217;t matter that much to be honest. I&#8217;m just happy to be back at the front, where\u00a0I think we&#8217;ve belonged all along, and I will race my heart out tomorrow.
