{"id":1096,"date":"2014-05-04T16:11:33","date_gmt":"2014-05-04T14:11:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/b106543.web05.cust.bluerange.se\/?p=1096"},"modified":"2014-05-04T16:47:29","modified_gmt":"2014-05-04T14:47:29","slug":"engine-problem-forces-felix-out-of-podium-battle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/felixracing.se\/en\/engine-problem-forces-felix-out-of-podium-battle\/","title":{"rendered":"Engine problem forces Felix out of podium battle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/b106543.web05.cust.bluerange.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/R3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1094\" alt=\"R3\" src=\"https:\/\/b106543.web05.cust.bluerange.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/R3-300x199.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/felixracing.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/R3-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/felixracing.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/R3-1024x682-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/felixracing.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/R3-1024x682-561x373.jpg 561w, https:\/\/felixracing.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/R3.jpg 1400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Felix was forced to retire from the final FIA Formula 3 European Championship race of the weekend at Hockenheim due to an engine problem when running third.<\/p>\n<p>Starting from fourth on the grid, Felix shot off the line to snatch third from Antonio Giovinazzi, and then joined front-row men Max Verstappen and Esteban Ocon in a breakaway charge that saw the trio open up an immediate\u00a0gap to their fellow rivals.<\/p>\n<p>Once an early\u00a0safety car period had been cleared, Felix began to put Race 2 winner Ocon under pressure, as the balance of his M\u00fccke Motorsport machine proved considerably improved\u00a0in the wake of some further afternoon set-up changes.<\/p>\n<p>It would all turn to nothing on lap five, however, as a sudden loss of engine power forced\u00a0Felix out of the race and into retirement to\u00a0conclude a weekend of many challenges at the German Grand Prix venue.<\/p>\n<p>The M\u00fccke Motorsport engineers are yet to identify the cause of the engine problem, and do currently not know whether a replacement unit will be needed for next weekend&#8217;s round\u00a0at Pau. If an engine change\u00a0proves to be\u00a0required,\u00a0Felix would incur\u00a0a ten-place grid penalty for\u00a0all three races in France.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>FELIX:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Not exactly the best day of my career. For the first time this weekend, we got the set-up close to where it needs to be, and I felt quicker than Ocon when the engine lost power on the back straight. It was a real shame, and it cost us a potential podium.\u00a0Still, it was\u00a0positive to end the weekend on a strong note pace-wise, and with the next race just one week away at Pau, we will be back on-track\u00a0again shortly &#8211; and we&#8217;re\u00a0determined to fight
