Indianapolis 500 winner Felix Rosenqvist will return to his hometown of Värnamo this winter for a public celebration of his historic achievement in “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing”.
Taking place on Saturday, December 5 in central Värnamo, the event will mark a truly unique occasion as the Swedish town greets local residents, motorsports fans and visitors from near and far to celebrate Rosenqvist’s iconic Indy 500 win.
“Felix Rosenqvist’s success is an outstanding achievement that has inspired immense pride and joy throughout Värnamo,” says Staffan Svensson, Project Manager and Destination Development Officer at Värnamo Municipality. “We want to give the people of Värnamo and the motorsports community an opportunity to celebrate him together, while also showcasing the strong sense of community and local pride that exists here.”
Born in 1991, Rosenqvist grew up in Värnamo – a small rural town in southern Sweden – and laid the early foundations for his racing career at nearby karting tracks.
“Getting to celebrate an Indy 500 victory in my hometown will be an unforgettable way to cap off the best year of my life,” says Felix Rosenqvist. “Sharing an occasion like this with everyone in Värnamo, where the dream began, will feel completely surreal. It is going to be a massive pinch-yourself moment.”
Representatives from INDYCAR will take part in the celebration, with additional news and highlights set to be announced closer to the event.
“INDYCAR’s involvement makes the celebration even more unique,” says Staffan Svensson. “We are proud to welcome them to Värnamo and give the public a rare opportunity to experience the international world of motorsports up close. We look forward to sharing more details in the coming months.”
The program will include tributes from the stage, interviews, live music and other motorsports-themed activities.
“It is truly amazing to think that we will all get to experience and share this moment together,” concludes Felix Rosenqvist. “I absolutely can’t wait to see my friends, family and everyone else in Värnamo in December.”
